Schild Street

I want to say I am always motivated by our built environment and driven by good design. In this case an old Torana caught my eye, while I was thinking how much I would enjoy drawing that I noticed the power lines above it and couldn’t believe what I was looking at. Being an architect I am used to service connections to buildings but I was struggling to work out what all these cables must be.

We have planning controls and regulations controlling what we can build but there needs to be more discussion on infrastructure. In this case the cables frame a really nice Torana but that is small consolation to the people occupying small weatherboard cottages with multitudes of cables coming in and going over their properties.

A small side note to this picture is the rubbish bins in the front verandah of one of the residences. I won’t repeat myself here too much but it is a recurring theme and pet topic of mine.
