To anyone who knows Williamstown they will know this site, I love this building so much. When I drive anywhere I don’t take the most direct route, I plan my journey around significant buildings and this site is one of them. It is an anomaly to me, I didn’t know there was enough business in selling bait to warrant such a specialist shop.
This building has an x-factor for me in urban design and proves that you cannot regulate everything. Were this a stunning building it might not interest me as much. It raises so many questions for my, questions I don’t want answered, those questions spark my imagination. That is more powerful than a building which ticks all the boxes in design guidelines.
These are the buildings which have an amazing history going from service station to Bait shop that create a wonderful texture in a suburb. Thank god it’s not another apartment building, the day we lose treasures like this we really lose a lot of makes a suburb wonderful and thought provoking.
